Questions parents ask

Can a 6th grader skip 7th-grade math?

Yes. Pass the Math 7 exam with 80% or more and they move to Math 8 in 7th grade. To reach Algebra I in 7th grade, Prosper requires passing both Math 7 and Math 8.

What happens if my child doesn’t pass?

They stay in their regular course. They can try again in a later window. Prosper allows up to 2 attempts per course.

UT or Texas Tech: which one will we get?

The district decides, and it isn’t posted publicly. Ask the counselor when you register. The topics are the same, but the length and format differ.

When should we start preparing?

For a spring test, start by January. Most families plan 8–12 weeks of 20–30 minutes a day, depending on how much 7th-grade math is new.
